Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Content Developer is responsible for managing all aspects of content development for the Symantec Enablement Toolkit, including: gathering and managing content, responding to requests for new and updated content, maintaining existing content, publishing content, and responding to support requests.

As part of the content gathering and publishing process, the person will need to work closely with content owners and other stakeholders.

The Symantec Enablement Toolkit is an application that uses Symantec’s LiveUpdate technology to distribute product and training material to internal and external users.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Training and Education

• Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience and training

• 2+ years of content management, Web authoring, and production experience

• Excellent English-speaking and grammar skills

Technical

• 2+ years experience working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

• Experience with content management systems a plus

• Familiarity with authoring/graphics tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver

• Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat

Organizational

• Strong attention to detail

• Basic copy editing skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• High degree of customer driven focus

• Motivated, self-sufficient, and shows initiative

• Ability to work against tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks and/or projects at once without sacrificing quality

• Ability to work independently and effectively within a team-based environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Content Developer will be responsible for:

• Gathering and managing content from internal and external sources

• Responding to requests to create new content modules, and to update existing content modules

• Maintain existing content modules against schedules

• Performing basic QA testing prior to publishing content

• Responding to support email requests

• Logging any issues or defects encountered with content management systems

• Providing status and other reports to management

• Building basic Web pages using standard HTML authoring tools

• Building content modules using proprietary content management systems

• Accurately tracking all content requests in terms of priority and turnaround time

• Effectively escalating requests to management when necessary

• Coordinating publishing with team members

• Creating and editing graphical elements for use within content modules
