Build and Release Engineer
Job Description��

The Build and Release Engineer will lead the definition, design and delivery of an improved software build and deployment infrastructure.

Primary responsibilities include implementing and maintaining software build processes and scripts; creating and maintaining product installation and deployment routines and creating media for release and archival of products.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities of Position May Include:
• Develop and maintain a build automation framework that is highly scripted and can be executed largely unattended
• Implement and maintain software build processes and scripts
• Debug build problems in a multi-platform environment
• Develop and maintain solution installation processes and scripts that seek to leverage a high degree of installation and deployment automation
• Communicate and work with developers/managers to resolve build and deployment issues in a high priority manner
• Provide source control maintenance and support.
• Maintain machine build environments.
• Work collaboratively with Development, Quality Assurance, Product Management and Project Management to define specifications for installer deliverables and the build process for each project.
• Ensures adherence to process, tools and metrics standards within the project team
• Display a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems.

Desired Profile ��

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience :

Strong background in SW design and implementation, as well as the ability to work with different engineering groups to create optimal solutions.
Strong experience with SCM (MKS, Clearcase, Subversion, CVS or equivalent) infrastructure
Proven experience in developing SCM processes including version, build & release management covering internal & customer needs
Advanced Experience in scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc)
Strong working knowledge of build utilities such as Make, Automake, ANT etc.
Working knowledge of Oracle & Java programming along with various compilers, libraries, packaging, installation & licensing tools
Experience with install automation tools such InstallShield, InstallShield Multi-platform, InstallAnywhere, etc
An ability to manage several concurrent projects and constructively interact with other project members and Release/Install staff.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based work environment.
Good knowledge of UML
Strong quality orientation and customer focus
Ability to deal with multiple time critical issues concurrently
Understands concepts of the software development lifecycle
Strong written and verbal skills from both business and technical perspectives
Strong attention to detail
