The Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology is one of the National Institute under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research which is an autonomous body. It is located on a 250 acres of land with the backdrop of snow-covered peaks of Dhauladhar Range in salubrious climate. The Institute is engaged in research and technology development programmes for sustainable management of bioresources of the Himalayas. The Institute has successfully carried out mission- oriented projects on tea, temperate floriculture and aromatic plants and is well equipped for Tissue culture and Biotechnology. Facilities include Tea Processing Unit, FRP greenhouses and equipments like GC-MS, FT-IR, Ultrascan, Automated DNA sequencers, Phosphoimager, Q-TOF, XL Laser densitometer, HPLCs, MALDI-TOF, CONFOCAL MICROSCOPY, CO 2 Extractor, FPLC, HP- TLC, IRGA, NMR, Scintillation counter, computer networking etc.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following posts
Post No. 1: Scientist Group IV (2) – Essential Oil Chemistry (1 Post- UR) Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ist class M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry with three years research experience as evident from publication in refereed journals OR Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with one year research experience as evident from publications in refereed journals.
Desirable: Working knowledge and preferable experience in the field of essential oil chemistry including extraction, isolation and characterization with sound knowledge of modern equipments like, GC, GCMS, NMR, HPLC, LCMSMS as evident from publication in refereed journals etc.
Job Requirement: Chemical investigation of aromatic plants including essential oil by conventional and modern extraction technique, like SFE, ASE, characterization of stereoisomer, value addition through synthesis and formulation.
Post No. 2: Scientist Group IV (2) – Agronomy (1 Post – UR) Essential Qualifications and Experience: 1st class M.Sc. in (Agril.) specialization in
Agronomy with three years experience as evident from publication in refereed journals OR Ph.D. (Agronomy) with one year research experience . Research experience should be based on publication in refereed journals in the area of hard core agronomical field experimentation.
Desirable: Research experience on high value medicinal, aromatic and other industrial crop and understanding of secondary metabolite production in plants.
Job Requirement: Standardization and development of agro- techniques for medicinal aromatic and alternate crops, Precision agronomy and crop system analysis.
Post No.3: Scientist Group IV (2)- Biotechnology (1 Post – UR) Essential Qualifications and Experience: 1st class M.Sc. in Life Sciences with three years
research experience in development of transgenics and study of gene expression analysis as evident from publication in refereed journals OR Ph.D. in any subject of Life Sciences with one year research experience in development of transgenics and study of gene expression analysis as evident from publication in refereed journals.
Job Requirement: To work in raising transgenic and gene expression analysis.
Post No.4: Scientist Group IV (2) – Bioinformatics (1 Post – UR) Essential Qualifications and Experience: 1st class M.Sc. in Bioinformatics with three years
experience as evident from publication in refereed journals OR M.Sc. Biotechnology with specialization in Bioinformatics with three years experience in the related field as evident from publication in refereed journals OR M.Sc. Life Science with specialization in Bioinformatics with three years experience in the related field as evident from publication in refereed journals OR Ph.D in Bioinformatics with one years experience as evident from
publication in refereed journals
Job Requirement: Genome, transcriptome and proteome analysis; organization and annotation and dissemination of large sequence data sets; development of software for data analysis; functional assignment to sequences; molecular modeling.
Post No. 5: Scientist Group IV (2) – Veterinarian (01 Post-SC) Essential qualifications and Experience: Ist class M.Vsc with specialization in breeding
and rearing of small animals with two years experience in related field as evident from publication in refereed journals
Desirable : Experience in maintaining of small animals in animal house will be preferred.
Job Requirement: Breeding, rearing and upkeep of small animals in animal house.
Post No.6: Scientist Group IV (2)-Toxicologist (1 Post – OBC-PH Orthopaedically) Essential Qualifications and Experience: 1st class M.Sc. in Zoology/ Biological Sciences/ Animal Sciences/ Biochemistry with three years experience in the area of toxicology as evident from publication in refereed journals OR Ph.D. in the area related to Mammalian Toxicology / Biochemistry of Xenobiotics with one year experience as evident from publication in refereed journals.
Desirable : Knowledge in Regulatory Toxicology.
Job Requirement: To carry out toxicological studies of food, Nutraceuticals and cosmetic products on small animals.
Post No.7: Scientist Group IV (2)-Biochemist ( 1Post-UR) Essential Qualification : M.V.Sc. in Biochemistry/ Toxicology with two years experience in the area of toxicological tests as evident from publication in refereed journals OR Ph.D in Biochemistry/ Toxicology with one year experience in the relevant area as evident from publication in refereed journals.
Desirable Qualification: Experience of regulatory toxicology studies in small animals as evidenced by publications.
Post No.8: Technical Group III (4) Agronomist (1 Post – UR) Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ist class B.Sc. in (Agril.) with eight years experience in the area of agronomy OR M.Sc. (Agronomy/ Horticulture ) with minimum of 55% marks with six years experience in the area of agronomy/ crop production.
Desirable : Experience of raising nursery, domestication, development of agropractices of aromatic and medicinal crops.
Job Requirement : Laying of agronomical trials and recording of data. Assisting in development of agrotechnology package of targeted crops.
Post No. 9: Technical Group III (4) (01 Post- UR) Essential qualifications and Experience: Ist class B.Sc with (Chemistry) as one of the subjects with eight years experience OR M.Sc. with a minimum of 55% marks in Organic/ Analytical / Pharmaceutical Chemistry OR equivalent recognized qualifications with six
years experience.
Desirable: Working knowledge in handling of sophisticated instruments like NMR/ LCMS- MS/ HPTLC/ HPLC/ GC/ MS for analysis of natural/ synthetic molecules as evident from publication in referred journal.
Job Requirement: Analysis and characterization of natural and synthetic organic molecules.
Post No. 10: Technical Group III (4) Nanotechnology (1 Post – OBC)
Essential Qualifications : 1st class B. Sc. with (Physics) as one of the subjects with eight years experience in handling instruments OR M.Sc. Electronics/ Physics with six years experience in handling instruments.
Job Requirement: Running and maintenance of sophisticated instruments pertaining to nanotechnology like SEM/ TEM/ AFM/ FTIR etc.
Post No.11: Technical Group III (2) (1 Post – UR) Essential Qualifications and Experience: 1st class B.Sc. / B. Pharmaceutical with Chemistry as one of the subject with two years experience.
Desirable: Working experience in Analytical Chemistry laboratory/ handling of instruments like HPLC/ HPTLC/ GCMS etc.
Job Requirement: To provide assistance in the area of Natural/ Synthetic Organic Chemistry.
